Matthias Franke - Head Instructor at Black Bear Taekwon-Do Erlangen
Matthias is a graduate in chemistry and head instructor of the Black Bear Taekwon-Do Dojang. Even though he trained also other martial arts like Kickboxing and Krav Maga, Taekwon-Do remained to be his passion throughout the years.
"Since if have entered the Dojang for the first time, which was about 20 years ago, the sport has taken over my life. I was stiff and lacking stamina, but I knew one thing: I had to learn this incredible kicks and movements! Week after week I trained, always the goal in mind to be able to move like my role models, the black belts. Throughout the years, Taekwon-Do offered more and more challenges to me: breaking a board for the first time, the black belt test, a complete restart, the first competition. And it's still going on. Today I know that these challenges make you grow. You learn that with continuous work, you can overcome any barrier. Change is possible - this is what I believe. And this believe I want to pass over to my students now."
